SureStep recognized the importance of leading by example in sustainability and corporate responsibility. As a consultancy advising clients on risk, governance, and compliance, we aimed to establish a robust Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) program that not only demonstrated our commitment to sustainability but also aligned with best practices. Our key challenges included:
- Defining clear ESG program goals aligned with our Climate Pledge.
- Quantifying our carbon footprint across Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.
- Identifying and managing our largest sources of carbon emissions, including employee travel and operational activities.
- Establishing transparent reporting and public accountability for our ESG initiatives.
Our Solution
SureStep applied our own consulting expertise to design and implement a comprehensive ESG program, engaging both our consultants and operational teams in a true "dogfooding" approach. Our solution included:
- Conducting a detailed ESG assessment, identifying key goals and aligning them with our Climate Pledge.
- Evaluating our carbon footprint across Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, including:
- Scope 1: Direct emissions from company-owned vehicles and equipment.
- Scope 2: Indirect emissions from purchased electricity.
- Scope 3: Indirect emissions from business travel, employee commuting, and supply chain activities.
- Collaborating with sustainability partners to accurately measure and quantify our carbon emissions.
- Identifying employee travel and operational activities as our largest emission sources.
- Implementing AWS carbon offsets to significantly reduce our overall carbon impact.
- Designing a robust ESG process, including:
- Clear ESG goals and metrics for ongoing tracking.
- Standardized data collection and reporting processes.
- Public reporting materials to ensure transparency and accountability.
