A global technology vendor providing compliance solutions needed to integrate their platform with leading GRC systems—IBM OpenPages and ServiceNow IRM. The objective was to create a seamless, automated data flow between their solution and these GRC platforms. However, the project faced significant challenges:
- The vendor's API was heavily text-focused, lacking structured metadata, making it difficult to map and transform data for GRC systems.
- Custom data models were required for each GRC platform, with differing structures for IBM OpenPages and ServiceNow IRM.
- Multiple customer versions needed to be supported, each with unique configurations.
- Integration had to be seamless and scalable, requiring rigorous quality assurance and deployment management.
Our Solution
SureStep was engaged as the all-in-one solution partner, responsible for the complete design, development, and deployment of the integration. Our approach included:
- Conducting a detailed assessment of the vendor’s API capabilities and GRC platform requirements, identifying data mapping and transformation needs.
- Designing a robust data transformation layer that converted text-heavy API data into structured, metadata-rich formats suitable for each GRC system.
- Building custom API connectors for IBM OpenPages and ServiceNow IRM, ensuring compatibility with each platform’s data model.
- Implementing custom versioning logic to support multiple customer-specific configurations without duplicating code.
- Managing the full deployment lifecycle, including:
- Technical specification creation for client approval.
- Comprehensive quality assurance, including end-to-end testing across all supported versions.
- Coordinating with both the GRC vendors and the client’s technical teams for a smooth rollout.
- Providing detailed user guides and training for client teams, ensuring effective use of the integrated solution.
